The Pants As Evening Wear

One of the most interesting trends to come up this Spring is wearing pants as evening wear.  Pants were seen on runways in many permutations as under garments or support for gowns or long trains and bustles and as augmentations to beautiful glittering jackets and even tutus.

A wonderful example of the trend gone wild is the tutu type look created by designer Alexis Mabille. She cinched together blush colored shiny pants with a lace and peplum top cinched tightly together at the waist. So much fabric is gathered at the waist that it looks like a tutu.

The House of Chanel stayed away from the sexy cigar pants that most designers showed and instead opted for wide leg pants with a blue and white embroidered pattern.  This was worn with a boat neck, long sleeved top with the same pattern and crown of black and white feathers.  Exactly opposite to the ostentatiousness of the House of Chanel look is the offering for Spring from Raf Simons of the House of Dior which was s a pale sherbet green bodice and tight pants done in the cigarette pant style. This was pearled with long sleeveless black sheer gloves embroidered with appliques.

More than a couple of designer showed violet evening pants. Giambatistta Valli paired violet cigar pants beneath a long ruffled sheer gown. Panels of the fabric fell down around the pants for an intriguing sixties look.

Armani Prive goes for the bronze in his evening ensemble for this Spring in a shiny chevron suit. The top that goes with the pants is boxy with padded pointed shoulders sand three quarter length sleeves.  Black nail polish and shoes in a matching chevron print completed this look.

Cigar pants covered completely with glittering sequins was another popular look.  Marizio Galantes ‘skinny pants for evening were done in white sequins and paired with a top with an asymmetrical neck as well as tall strappy sandals.

Evening pants on the runway at Oscar Carvallo were actually a one piece, flesh-toned pants suit with a sleeveless top and body hugging extension into tights. This see through look was further embroidered with heavy gold thread and paired with plastic and god leather platform shoes and topper that looks like a cross between a hat and a kerchief in the same fabric.  This is not a look just for anyone as it is like wearing a very fancy body stocking with appliques.
